Deliveries from Volvo Trucks reached 9,954 trucks in March, down by 4% compared with the year-earlier period.
In Europe deliveries amounted to 3,952 trucks in March, down 12% compared with the corresponding period in 2011. However, the Russian market continued to show a positive development and deliveries increased to 604 trucks in March compared with 390 trucks in March 2011. Deliveries also increased in Great Britain and in the Baltic states in March, compared with March 2011.
At the same time, uncertainty concerning economic and political development in Southern Europe continued to impact truck deliveries in certain markets to some extent.
Deliveries in South America continued to be affected by planned production reductions in the wake of new emission requirements, which were introduced on January 1st 2012. In March, deliveries declined by 13% to 1,943 trucks compared with the same period last year. Looking at individual markets in South America, deliveries increased in Argentina, Peru and Uruguay during March.
In North America, March deliveries increased 48% to 2,552 vehicles in comparison with the same period last year. The increase was primarily a result of continued replacement demand.
