ROUND six of the National Rally Championship (NRC) sees the Volkswagen Sasolracing team head to the Cullinan area for two days of intense competition. On Friday, August 14, the Volkswagen Sasolracing team can be see at the official start to the event at Fort Klapperkop in Pretoria before heading to Cullinan.

Saturday, day two of the Imperial Toyota Tshwane Motor Rally, keeps the action going around Cullinan and Bronkhorstspruit with 10 stages comprising the two-day event.

“In the month since the Volkswagen Rally the workshop has been a hive of activity,” says Mike Rowe, head of Volkswagen Motorsport. “While the weather played a role in the outcome of our home event, causing some of the stages to be cancelled, it also impacted on our competition time with the Volkswagen Sasolracing Polo S2000s. We've spent the time between rallies preparing for the very different stage conditions we're expecting at round six and we're confident of a good rally setup.”

Gugu Zulu and Hilton Auffray enter the event as the leading competitors for the Volkswagen Sasolracing team, still in control of their top-five position in the championship. Zulu and Auffray will be looking towards another podium result, having claimed two already this season.

For Hergen Fekken and Pierre Arries the sixth round of the season is another opportunity to improve on their performance this season. Since their return to competition at round three, they have shown continually improving results with a dramatic jump to a top-five finish in the previous round, the Volkswagen Rally.

Henk Lategan and Barry White aim for a return to the form they showed at the start of the season, scoring the Volkswagen Sasolracing team's first podium result for the year. The sixth national rally event for the year provides the chance to do just that, with the opportunity to score the team's fourth podium for the 2015 season.

“Volkswagen Sasolracing's Gugu and Hilton and Henk and Barry have been on the podium three times this season,” says Rowe. “For Hergen and Pierre who will contest their fourth event together at this rally, it is just a matter of time before they too step onto the podium. We're expecting two days of tough rallying, but the Volkswagen Sasolracing team will definitely be right in the thick of the action.”
