Vauxhall has teamed up with young driver insurance specialist ingenie. The partnership could provide 17 to 25 year-old Vauxhall drivers, of both new and used cars, with more affordable insurance and the benefits of ingenie’s black box technology, which acts as a co-pilot.
ingenie fits a black box out of sight in the car and collects data on how the car is being driven. The box assesses individual driving styles and driver feedback is available via the ingenie mobile app and online.
Key areas of driving are assessed including speed, cornering, braking and acceleration. The policy is then reviewed every three months and the best drivers could receive a discount of up to 10 per cent on their insurance in the first year – so, if they drive well, they pay less.
“We wanted to provide young drivers who buy their cars through Vauxhall retailers with affordable insurance to help them get on the road,” said Mark Pinkney, Vauxhall’s Marketing Programmes Manager. “ingenie’s technology and approach made them an obvious choice for this partnership. Vauxhall Insurance for 17-25 year olds powered by ingenie will help make it more affordable for first time young drivers but more importantly it will encourage young people to become better drivers through ingenie’s driving feedback.”
Commenting on the partnership with Vauxhall, Richard King, founder and CEO at ingenie said: “Young drivers find it increasingly difficult to buy affordable car insurance and ingenie offers a fairer solution that assesses them on their own merits. With one in five of our driver community choosing a Vauxhall Corsa, the partnership with Vauxhall is a perfect fit.”
