What Car? introduces world’s first carbon neutral motoring magazine road tests by teaming up again with Carbon Neutral Investments

London, 27 December 2011 – The company that brought us the world’s first carbon neutral F1 team – thanks to a pioneering partnership earlier this month with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes – will support the carbon neutrality of What Car? in another ‘first’ starting in 2012.

CNI and What Car? have teamed up in a move to off-set the carbon emissions of all road tests conducted by the magazine in 2012 – making What Car? not only the UK’s leading, but now the most environmentally responsible motoring media brand.

What Car? editor in chief, Chas Hallett, said:

“What Car? has led the motoring media industry for many years, and this new move to carbon neutrality by offsetting all our road tests will help keep us one step ahead in 2012.”

CNI co-chairman, James Brown, added:

“The majority of What Car?’s emissions come from road testing. Therefore it provided a logical step for us to start off-setting the emissions from these activities. With some 13 issues of the magazine per year, each containing upwards of 20 road-tests there is a lot of work to do, but we and What Car? are committed to continued leadership of the industry with our new carbon neutral offering.”

In utilising the Indian hydro-power project chosen by What Car? to offset its awards events, significant environmental benefits and socio-economic advantages have already been brought to the Maharashtra region, with more to follow in 2012 as the magazine’s road tests are off-set in the new year.
