This year we are looking at some of the Top 10 New Years Resolutions that people make at the end of the year. These are things that they wish to do, accomplish or loose during the new year. Making new years resolutions is an old tradition still going very strong in 2011 if one lookes at the amount of post just about "New Year Resolutions".

  • New Years Resolution 1: Stop Smoking - You may gain between 10 and 25 lbs

In today’s modern lifestyle it is so easy to quit one vice and just pick up another one which can be or most of the time overeating. Usually, when you stop smoking, food starts to taste much better. Delicious! After quitting your taste buds came alive.

It’s easy to substitute the cigarette in your hand and mouth for a creamy chocolate. Good advice is to chew gum all the time. Try to have healthy food like sticks of celery close to hand, when you want to nibble. Lots of water, is healthy and your body needs it!

I tried to quit smoking for a few times in my life. But this time I'm going to handle my stress a different way. As soon as it hits me, I will start jogging. This way the craving for a cigarette or nicotine should be under control and, maybe, my stress may just disappear too.

Normally people find the will to quit as soon as they read a book about the smoking habit and how bad it is for your health.

The cost of cigarettes is incredible costly and just the thought of that motivates me to succeed in this New Year Resolution!

  • New Years Resolution 2: How to Stay Fit

To stay fit in today’s busy world is not easy

Normally when we are busy, our exercise programs are the first thing that we will cut on. We don’t have time for exercising or we use that time zone for something else.

But what we all forget is that exercising is a good stress releaser, makes you more productive, higher energy levels, let you sleep like a baby, and most important let you feel good about yourself and your body!

When you start hitting the thirties, forties and fifties, exercising is very important, it helps with cramps and will keeps us fit.

  • New Years Resolution 3: Lose Weight

The ongoing battle of the Bulge, the main reason to lose weight must be for a healthier lifestyle and not appearance. If you do some researching you will find that nearly 112000 deaths per year may occur by obesity! With weight increases, the risk of death also increases.

Among adults ages 30 to 64 a moderate weight increase or excess can put them at risk. Some types of cancer can be associated with obesity and overweight.

Every 2 pound increase in weight can increases the development of arthritis by 9 – 13 percent.

Normally overweight or obese people are more likely for heart diseases.

Weigh lost is all in the mind, and you only need inspiration to succeed. Don’t wait start on your New Year’s Resolution.

  • New Years Resolution 4: Enjoy Life More.
    • Love what you do – success is in what you do!
    • It’s easy, just find what you love to do, and just do it!

What inspires me is that I like to read biographies of successful people and this is exactly what they did. If you do what you like to do, you won’t see it as a job and that is when you will enjoy life as well as become a successful person!

  • New Years Resolution 4: Quit Drinking

This is a tough one! In my eyes I consider myself as an occasional drinker, if you think that you can handle your drink, take a few moments to think again.

The recommended safe Limits of Alcohol

      • Men should drink no more than 21 units of alcohol per week and no more than four units in any one day.
      • Women should drink no more than 14 units of alcohol per week and no more than three units in any one day
      • One unit of alcohol is 10ml (1cl) by volume, or 8g by weight, of pure alcohol,

Three pints of beer, three times per week, is at least 18-20 units per week, what's nearly the upper weekly safe limit for a man.

A 750ml bottle of 12% wine contains nine units. If you drink two bottles of 12% wine over a week that is 18 units. This is above the upper safe limit for a woman.

I was drinking 3 to 4 bottles of chardonnay a week!

  • New Years Resolution 6: Organize Yourself

This is one of the most important keys to reach your goals.

I had to work really hard on this one, I hate paperwork and filing! And even worse than that, it seems that I never have the time to do everything I need to do and most of the time I don’t have time to organize my house and a messy untidy environment let you also feel messy and cluttered.

So my New Year resolution is to get myself organize.

  • New Years Resolution 7: Learn Something New

In today’s modern life, there’s no excuse not to get ahead of technology. With access to the internet 24 hours, we are no longer restricted; we can learn “Google”

I decided that I am going to take an online course and learn at my own pace from the privacy of my home.

  • New Years Resolution 8: Get out of Debt

Constantly you hear about price increases, and more people are turning to their credit cards and home equity loans just to survive monthly.

This New Year I am going to cut back!

  • New Years Resolution 9: Spend more quality Time With your Family

Schedule quality family time, at least once a week; sit down t dinner with your family. Also get your family involve in chores around the house.

Make a New Year Resolution to spend more time with your family this year.

  • New Years Resolution 10: Help People.

Volunteering is an essential part of citizenship and component of democracy. This means the full commitment of your time and energy for the benefit of the community. This is absolute freely and by choice.
