If high-adrenaline boating is your game, you have to visit the Tige Boats stand at the
, being held at Nasrec Expo Centre from August 24 to 26.
“Think of the Tige as the Ferrari of the water-world, and you have a basic handle on what type of marine craft we offer,” says Shan Faccio, MD of Tige Boats South Africa, which is based in Vanderbijlpark.
“We’re really excited about the Johannesburg Boat Show, and we’ll be show-casing our latest top-end products,” says Shaun.
“So far, we will be showing the new Z3 and the RZR, breath-taking boats at the top end of the wake-boarding scale. We will also be showing an RZ series boat.”
In addition to the top-end boats, Tige will also be displaying their Orbital surf boards, as well as the top-end Wet Sound audio systems, found standard on Tige Boats, but now also available for fitment to other brands of boats.
Tige Boats South Africa has been at the forefront of the wake-boarding revolution here, the Texas-built brand being introduced to South Africa in 2001, to coincide with the World Wake Boarding Championships, also held in 2001.
The new Tige RZR and Tige Z3 offer some unique features for the wake-boarding fraternity. They can offer surfing on both sides of the boat, thanks to the special wake management systems on these boats. The wake can also be adjusted for wake-boarding or slalom, or a surf effect. These systems are known as ConvexV and TAPS2. These systems, as well as other vital boat functions, are controlled by the magnificent new TigeTouch touch screen control system, mounted on the dashboard.
The 2012 Tige RZR offers a seating capacity for 12 people, yet still provides awesome performance, thanks to its in-board PCM (Pleasurecraft Marine) V8 engine, punching out a potent 343 horsepower (255 kW). In fact, says Shaun, customers can also go one step better and order the boat with a 6,0-litre V8 producing over 409 horsepower!
The RZR with a Wet Sound system enables the wake rider to hear the music just as clearly as those onboard, thanks to a unique audio splaying technology peculiar to this Texas-built system.
The Z3 is known in pro-circles as the “ultimate wake and surf boat”. The outstanding feature of the Z3 is that enables the pilot to dial in a perfect wake or massive surf wave. The Z3 also offers the deepest freeboard in the Tige family, allowing an exceptional level of ride-comfort.
The Z3 is a 23-footer (7,01 metre) craft, and also uses the unparalleled PCM V8 engine with inboard V-drive. Although immensely powerful, the Z3 is noted for its economy and excellent range, with a fuel tank measuring over 180 litres.
These Tiges are top-end boats, but are nevertheless well-priced in the premium segment and Shaun Faccio notes that show-goers will be offered some special purchase prices, to celebrate the inaugural Johannesburg Boat Show at Nasrec.
