THE IT MAN – ROSS McELENY TO BRING FOCUS ON TECHNOLOGY AT NATIONWIDE
Nationwide Accident Repair Services plc, the UK’s largest dedicated automotive repair group, has today announced that Ross McEleny has been appointed as Head of IT. Ross, previously of Xchanging Technology Services and Audatex UK, has joined the market leading team to spearhead the IT strategy which is a key component of the group’s growth plans over the next three years.
This new role reflects the importance of technology in Nationwide’s integrated offering across fixed site and mobile repair solutions, automotive glass services (Motorglass), plus the comprehensive accident management and claims handling at Nationwide Network Services.

Ross was IT Services Director of Audatex UK for 14 years, having joined in 1997 at the dawn of the internet age and being instrumental in developing estimating software from its direct connection roots through to the flexible, integrated and responsive online system which is widely used across UK insurers and bodyshops today. For the past year, Ross has been working with nsurance claims software, IT networks and security technologies supporting over 300+ customers and 134 insurers worldwide at Xchanging Technology Services in London.
“My objective is to ensure that Nationwide has the agile, industry-leading IT platform it requires to support and drive growth across all the individual areas of the business,” explains Ross. “Nationwide is unique as there are no other organisations which offer the same breadth of automotive suppport and repair options, so it poses challenges which are replicated nowhere else in this industry. However, this also creates significant opportunity when we consider the potential efficiencies which can be achieved, and the impact these improvements will have on the streamlined services we can offer our customers.”
