Families are watching their pennies like never before thanks to spiralling inflation and the ever-increasing cost-of-living, but for those wanting a fantastic full day out during this year’s school holidays, The British Motor Show 2022 offers affordable value like nothing else.
At £37 for a family of four you get the most exciting, interactive, intensive and action-packed day out for all ages, all for the same price as a takeaway, a drive-thru burger meal, a two-hour trip to the cinema, a single person ticket to a theme park or a video game….
And that’s not all. Having wowed crowds in 2021 with the breadth and scope of family-friendly activities on offer, the entertainment has got even more engaging for 2022.
Following the success of the Show’s Car Football in 2021, this year we’ll be hosting the CAR-monwealth Games. Over the four days of the show we’ll be putting two teams of celebrity drivers against each other in a series of athletics-themed challenges including the 4 x 100 Relay, Long Jump and Tug Of War to see who is best at automotive-themed challenges, olympians or stars from the automotive world.
It’s guaranteed to create a fair amount of competition and no end of thrills (and likely spills).
The feature will take place at the end of each day at the show and is sure to be one of the most popular sessions of the day in the cinch Live Arena, hosted by TV motoring pundit Mike Brewer and Olympian Iwan Thomas. Our live action is designed to appeal to all ages, but it’s a particular favourite of the younger generation who love the noise of the supercars, the squeal of burning rubber in our stunt displays and the excitement of our under-16 motorbike display team. The two live arenas will keep your family entertained all day.
Then there are the supercars – The British Motor Show will be one of the only places that your youngsters will be able to get up close to some of the amazing exotica that they see on the internet, plus we’ll have a number of their favourite influencers with us over the weekend, including Yianni, Sam Hard, Petrolheadonism and Ratarossa. Imagine the look on their faces when they meet their favourite influencer or celebrity face to face.
The cinch Family Zone is the hub of our family entertainment in Hall 1, offering car colouring, face painting and the chance for youngsters to get involved in wrapping a car. Plus, with a huge car mat and loads of Hot Wheels cars, there’s loads of fun for children of all ages – all included in the £37 ticket price.
The cinch Family Zone is also home to The Racing Bug, which was one of the most popular parts of the area in 2021, especially when our celebs and famous racing drivers got involved. Racing six-at-a-time you’ll be driving a remote-control car around our track, trying to beat the other drivers.
If your offspring fancy a stint behind the wheel themselves, then one of the most popular parts of the show and guaranteed to sell out is our Under-17 Driving Experience. Following the huge success of this feature in. 2021, we’ll have more cars available this year, giving more youngsters the opportunity to get behind the wheel, courtesy of Young Drivers. Advanced purchases are already sold out, but you’ll still be able to purchase a 15-minute driving lesson for your youngsters on the day.
We’ll also have not one, but two giant Scalextric tracks for the kids (and big kids) to have some fun on. Come and see if you can set the fastest time of the day or play against our celebrities.
We’ll also have three driving simulators around the site, including 2 AMG F1 simulators, plus a pair of racing simulator rigs in the cinch Family Zone, with the latest games and the chance for people to race each other – or even our celebrities!
Everyone will be able to join in the Marshall Motor Group word search. Encourage your youngsters to keep an eye open for letters hidden in cars around the show, which will combine to create a word. Once completed, drop it off and see if you might win a Family VIP ticket for the 2023 show.
On top of that, we’ll have F1 cars, NASCARs, modified cars, classic cars, cars from TV, Teslas and more. There’s something for everyone at the show and something to satisfy every mini car fan, whether it’s bright and loud, or full of the latest tech….
The British Motor Show CEO, Andy Entwistle, said: “We know just how much families are feeling the pinch at the moment, so we made sure our ticket prices were capped at 2021 levels for this year’s event, but that hasn’t stopped us making our kid-friendly and family activities bigger, better and more engaging. Indeed, there’s even more to do for families than ever before.
“Our plan from the outset was to reinvent The British Motor Show and make it so much more than just halls full of cars. Instead, we’ve put together the most interactive, exciting and engaging automotive event on the calendar whilst maintaining incredible value for money.”
Sponsored by cinch, The British Motor Show takes place at Farnborough International from 18-21 August, with advanced ticket prices held from 2021 at just £18.50 each, or £37 for a family of four. However, customers are encouraged to act quickly as some of the busier days are expected to sell out.
