The Bridgestone Production Car season opener is upon us and Team Ford Racing is raring to establish themselves as the forerunners in the Class T title fight. The first race of the season will set the tone for the year and sparks are expected to fly at Kyalami on 5 March 2011.
Crowd favourites, Gary Formato and Shaun Duminy have the support and determination needed to overthrow the GTI hierarchy. Their Ford Focus ST’s are prepped for battle and all that remains are the final touches of war paint.
The exceptionally successful team has over the past three years, left their mark on Production Car Racing and is expected to continue their winning ways in 2011 with renewed passion and vigour.
“Our team, have finished in the top three in every championship we have competed in, with our success culminating in the 2009 Championship victory. We have one goal this year and that is to stake claim to the 2011 title,” commented Gary Formato enthusiastically.
Shaun Duminy elaborated on the team’s chances from a more technical perspective; “The Ford Focus ST’s are reliable, beautifully crafted, performance engineered racing machines. We have impressive power at our disposal and this, combined with our excellent braking and exceptional handling is a winning package. We have the equipment and the dedication to lead the way in 2011.”
The Ford Focus ST’s will be competing against the Volkswagen Golf 6 GTI, Volkswagen Golf 5 GTI and BMW 120d in four sprint races on races day. This should play to the team’s strengths and will encourage robust, action packed racing.
