ABSA Off Road Racing Championship

Pretoria, 12 July 2010 – Team Ford Racing is eagerly anticipating the Sun City 400, round four of the Absa Off Road Championship taking place on the weekend of 16 and 17 July, 2010.

Not only can the team look forward to strong support from Ford fans but after a run of good results Ford is confident of a good showing on the Pilanesberg-based event. Having finished on the podium at the Sun City 400 for the last three years running, Woolridge and Skjoldhammer will certainly be one of the teams to watch.

Despite missing the opening round of the season Neil Woolridge and Kenny Skjoldhammer are currently lying third in the Production Vehicle Championship. A strong finish in their 3.2 TDCi Ford Ranger could see them take the lead at the top of the log.

“We’ve had a long break so everybody has had time to regroup and prepare their vehicles,” says Woolridge. “It is still relatively early in the season so we have a long way to go, but we are happy with our development thus far and are looking forward to a challenging and exciting event.”

Piloting the second Ford Ranger will be Neil’s son Lance. Together they make up one of twelve father and son pairings in the field demonstrating the family heritage that exists within this category. Lance will once again have navigator Ward Huxtable at his side.

“This is like a second home event in a row for us. The race cars are prepared in Pietermaritzburg but the Ford factory is based in Pretoria, and we’re again expecting great support from the Gauteng supporters. Our aim will be to give the Ford fans something to cheer about. Last time we managed a second, this time hopefully we can go one better and take a Class E victory in our production class Ford Ranger,” comments Lance.

As always the Sun City 400 is expected to be a spectator friendly event and being so close to both Johannesburg and Pretoria, many fans are expected to journey out for the day.

“With Sun City being the host of the event, DSP will again be based at the complex. The spectator viewing points on this event are easily accessible and provide plenty of action, so we would like to encourage all the Ford fans to join us and share in the excitement,” concludes Woolridge.
