PRETORIA, South Africa, 28 July 2011 – The two month winter break has finally come to an end and Team Ford Racing is eager to tackle round five of the Bridgestone Production Car Championship to be held at Aldo Scribante on 6 August 2011.
The team has used the lengthy break as an opportunity to rebuild the Ford Focus ST engines and gearboxes in preparation for the second half of the season. A dynamometer has been installed in the team workshop, enabling them to make and monitor electronic performance changes to the vehicles.
The team visited Aldo Scribante earlier in the year. The event proved to be a difficult one after Gary Formato rolled his car during one of the Friday practice sessions. The team was, however, able to overcome the odds and ultimately walked away from the event with a race win.
“The last time we were in PE we had our fair share of difficulties. I’m really looking forward to making amends and hopefully closing the points gap between myself and Graeme Nathan. This event marks the halfway point in the season and we still have a fighting chance to take the championship honours,” concluded Formato.
Formato currently lies second in the Class T championship, a mere seven points behind the leader. The fact that Formato has taken the most race wins of any competitor this season bodes well for the team’s championship aspirations.
