Following its impressive start to the 2011 season Team Ford Racing is in a position of strength ahead of the second round of the Bridgestone Production Car Championship.

The event takes place at Killarney Raceway in Cape Town on 2 April and is a favourite amongst both Team Ford Racing drivers Gary Formato and Shaun Duminy. The team shared two victories and seven podium finishes between them at the circuit in 2010.

“We have always had good results in Cape Town and I believe that we have a winning package. This year is our year and we are taking the fight to our competitors,” assured Formato ahead of the event.

The team’s impressive record in Cape Town can be attributed to the layout of the track being perfectly suited to the BP/ Castrol Ford Focus ST’s performance characteristics. The straight line speed of the vehicles will be put to full use down the two long straights and the team have a trick up their sleeves for the tight twisty corners too.

“Our cars have always been strong at the coast and we have always relied on straight line speed to keep us at the front of the pack. This year, not only do we have the performance, but our handling set-up is brilliant too,” added Duminy.

With Formato leading the Class T championship after the first round of the season and the upbeat feeling among the team, great things are expected from them at Killarney on 2 April.
