In the space of just four months, SsangYong has announced four newly refreshed models for the UK.  Now available at SsangYong dealers, every car represents great value and is covered by an industry leading five year limitless mileage warranty.

“The SsangYong value proposition is increasingly being recognised, and now every car in our range has been refreshed for 2014: new Rexton W, face-lifted Korando, improved Korando Sports pick-up and the recently launched Turismo, the most competitively priced MPV on the market,” says Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor UK. “Never before has SsangYong had such a complete range – a line-up of SUV and 4×4 vehicles that no other value-brand comes anywhere close to offering their customers.”

Ssanyong Rexton W

Ssanyong Rexton W

Built on a steel ladder chassis and with a 3 tonne towing capacity, the new SsangYong Rexton W is a serious off-roader and tow-car, yet with all the equipment and creature comforts expected of an urban cruiser.

Powered by SsangYong’s own 2.0 litre Euro 5 turbo charged e-XDi200 diesel engine offering a level of performance and NVH control that has already been tested, proven and praised in the marketplace.  Delivering maximum power of 155ps/4,000rpm and maximum torque of 360Nm/1,500-3,000rpm, it is designed to provide low end torque whatever the conditions on or off road.

Noted for being an extremely competent off-roader, Rexton W uses a body on frame construction for maximum strength – the accepted approach for a ‘proper’ off-roader – and features double wishbone and coil spring suspension to the front, and a five link rigid axle with coil springs at the rear.

There’s a choice of 6-speed manual transmission or 5-speed Mercedes-Benz T-Tronic automatic, ensuring world class durability, smooth gear changing and performance.  When going off road, the driver can select low range which also splits the torque equally between front and rear axles to provide all round traction and ensure optimum grip across the most challenging terrain.

The new Rexton W has an almost unrivalled position in the 4×4 sector, particularly with prices starting from only £21,995.

Ssanyong Korando Crossover

The Giugiaro designed Korando is already noted for its great value, high level of equipment, interior space and 2 tonne towing capability – the Korando SE recently won The Caravan Club Towcar of the Year Award 2014 for vehicles under £16,000 – and has now been given a makeover inside and out, as well as enhanced driving refinement.

Externally, the front receives an all-new treatment that includes a slimmed down, black mesh radiator grille, contemporary projection headlights and LED daytime running lights, while the interior has also been given a significant re-design that includes a completely redesigned dashboard.  Great advances in reducing NVH (noise, vibration & harshness) have also been made.

The new Korando is powered by a modern yet well-proven 2.0-litre Euro 5 turbo diesel engine.  There is a choice of power outputs, manual and automatic transmission, and two wheel drive or 4×4. Prices start from just £14,995.

Ssanyong Turismo MPV

The new SsangYong Turismo is almost without competition.  At over 5 metres long and with a 3 metre wheelbase, the car is larger than a standard sized MPV such as the Ford Galaxy, Renault Grand Scenic or SEAT Alhambra, yet is a car rather than a van-derived ‘people carrier’ like the Hyundai i800, Mercedes Viano or VW Caravelle.

Consequently its huge interior space and flexible passenger and load carrying capability means it can carry seven adults and 875 litres of luggage, through to two adults and 3,146 litres of load space, with seven alternative passenger and load combinations to choose from.

Designed to appeal as family, leisure and business transportation, the new car blends multi-role flexibility with great ride comfort and the appointments and equipment levels of a luxury saloon.

Thanks to its 3,000mm wheelbase, the car provides a huge interior space where seven adults can travel in supreme comfort with their luggage loaded in the back, without having to compromise on passenger accommodation.  There are three rows of seats as well as a large load space which can be further increased by removing the third row completely.

The Turismo is powered by SsangYong’s 2.0 litre turbo charged e-XDi200 diesel engine.  This Euro 5 engine offers maximum power of 155ps/4,000rpm and maximum torque of 360Nm/1,500-2,800rpm, and is designed to provide low end torque whatever the conditions.

There’s a choice of 6-speed manual transmission and 5-speed Mercedes-Benz T-Tronic automatic transmission, and with the EX model, selectable 4×4 with low ratio is standard.  All models offer an impressive 2.5 tonne towing capability.

Turismo prices start from just £17,995.

Ssanyong Korando Sports pick-up

The Korando Sports brought a new level of refinement to the pick-up market when it was launched just over a year ago, blending the suspension, engine and cabin finesse of a passenger car, with the silhouette, space and seating for five that’s typical of a double cab, and the rugged workmanlike ability of a commercial pick-up.

This new 2014 Korando Sports will appeal to those who need a working vehicle, the practicality of 4 wheel drive, the towing capability to haul up to 2.7 tonnes yet also the appointments of a family car.

There are two models to choose from.  The SX is extremely well appointed and comes equipped with 16” alloy wheels, tinted glass, air conditioning, leather covered steering wheel, remote central locking, Kenwood MP3 CD & RDS radio with a USB & auxiliary port and Bluetooth connectivity.  New for 2014 it also receives speed sensitive power assisted steering.

The EX gets new 18” alloy wheels, and features the luxury touch of leather upholstery with heated front seats, powered driver’s seat, heated, electrically adjustable and power folding door mirrors and rear parking sensors.  6 speed automatic transmission with cruise control is also available as an option.

Delivering both performance and economy – up to 37.7 mpg on the Combined Cycle, Korando Sports is powered by SsangYong’s latest e-XDi diesel engine.  This 2 litre Euro 5 engine provides maximum power of 155ps and peak torque of 360Nm delivered between 1,500rpm and 2,800rpm.

Three new hard tops are now available, adding features such as a sliding front window for ventilation and access to the car’s rear window, a heated rear window, hinged side windows – especially useful for ventilation when carrying dogs and other animals, and a hatch that locks as part of the car’s central locking and opens without having to lower the tailgate.  Prices start from £1,380 ex VAT / £1,655 inc VAT.

The new Korando Sports is keenly priced and comprehensively equipped from £15,042 ex VAT / £17,995 inc VAT.

5 year limitless mileage warranty

All models in the SsangYong range are covered by a best-in-class 5 year limitless mileage warranty.  Designed to be totally transparent and give customers complete peace of mind, ‘limitless’ means just that: not a maximum mileage condition that some brands impose in their small print.  All the major mechanical components are covered including wheel bearings, suspension joints and bushes, steering joints, shock absorbers and even the audio system.  Wearable components such as clutch discs and brake friction materials which could have their life reduced by poor driving are covered for one year or 12,000 miles, and the battery and paintwork for three years.

SsangYong

SsangYong cars are manufactured in South Korea by SsangYong Motor, which is 73 per cent owned by the Indian engineering conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra, and imported into the UK by SsangYong Motor UK.  Established in 1954 it is Korea’s oldest vehicle manufacturer and only 4×4 and SUV specialist producer.

There are currently some 60 SsangYong dealers covering England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, with new locations being added to the network all the time.
