At the Silverstone Classic this summer, two record-breaking races will honor the remarkable Mini Minor’s 60th anniversary (26-28 July).

For the first time ever, two extremely unique showdowns will be exclusively devoted to large numbers of beloved Mini racers vying for The Mini Celebration Trophy given by Adrian Flux as a way to commemorate this spectacular milestone in true Classic style.

Due to the Mini’s lasting appeal among historic motorsport participants, this year’s running of the largest retro-racing event on earth will include the largest-ever grid of racing Minis, which will be another significant crowd-pleasing highlight.

With qualifying on Friday and thrilling 20-minute showdowns on both Saturday and Sunday of the Classic, everyone will be able to join in the fun thanks to the irresistible Mini double-header action.

When it was first introduced in 1959, the ground-breaking Mini not only revolutionized small car design for all time but also became a classless British style icon in the Swinging Sixties. Today, BMW continues to pay homage to the original, which was created by the brilliant Sir Alec Issigonis for the British Motor Corporation (BMC).

The trailblazer not only rose to prominence as one of the most significant vehicles in automotive history, but also triumphed in competition. The Mini’s popularity grew rapidly as greater performance variants soon added to its agile front-wheel-drive design.

The small car’s extraordinary credentials were further enhanced and the perennial favorite’s legendary position was further fueled by its three notable victories in the Monte Carlo Rally and several giant-killing victories on the racetrack, many of which occurred at Silverstone.

The CEO of the Silverstone Classic, Nick Wigley, who learned to drive and passed his driving test in a little red Mini, exclaimed, “Absolutely everyone who loves cars loves the Mini, so we are really thrilled to be celebrating this major milestone in its illustrious history with two fabulous races at the Classic, where the stars are always the cars!”

“With so many moving examples already in existence, we anticipate building the largest-ever field of racing Minis in the globe… making more history for both the amazing Mini and the Classic in the process.

The Masters Historic Racing-organized Diamond Jubilee duels this summer will include race vehicles from the revolutionary Mini’s pre-1966 period.

Ron Maydon, the company’s founder and president, stated, “We are thrilled that Masters has been requested to organize these Mini-only celebratory races at the Silverstone Classic in July. “Minis are extremely dear to my heart, and it only seems fitting that we should be presenting a stunning grid of famed FIA-spec pre-66 Minis at such a wonderful British vintage racing festival in their 60th anniversary year,” the author said.

A variety of classic Minis will participate in dedicated in-field displays and unique track parades organized by members of illustrious automobile organizations, adding to the festivities during the annual Classic. These displays will represent all generations of the renowned brand over the decades.

If you plan to attend the festival, you must get your tickets in advance. If you buy them before the end of March, you may benefit from the Early Bird discount.

As in past years, all tickets include entry to the racing paddocks, live music performances on Friday and Saturday nights, trackside grandstands, and the full majority of the family-friendly activities available at the “rocking and racing” Classic.
