BRINGING THE WORLDs AUTO INDUSTRY TO SOUTH AFRICA.

PRETORIA: Thursday, September 01, 2022: naamsa | the Automotive Business Council has today announced that the industry’s premium networking and Thought Leadership Indaba will be held during the South African Auto Week from 26 – 29 October 2022.

The SA Auto Week will have several activities including an inventive 3-day Thought Leadership Indaba that will focus on key industry topics for South Africa and for the African continent under the theme: “REIMAGINING THE FUTURE TOGETHER | The Rise of the African Auto Industry: investing in new energy vehicles, infrastructure, and people”

The strategic focus of the Thought Leadership Indaba is to provide meaningful dialogue through keynote addresses, a series of panel discussions and breakaway sessions on a variety of topics that are key to the recovery, growth and development of the automotive industry. The Indaba will be centred around the four strategic pillars which includes:

  • ELEVATE: captivate and create prosperity for small, black-owned and women-owned industry stakeholders;
  • ENGAGE: progressively shape and influence public policy dialogue;
  • ENERGISE: motivate and drive industry’s contribution to economic recovery and growth; and
  • EMPOWER: showcase progress and investment in industry socio-economic activities

The SA Auto Week will physically bring together industry thought leaders from local, regional, continental and global business and government institutions, to consolidate efforts that will compellingly drive the transition to new energy vehicles and smarter technologies. The hybrid conference will bring to life global public policy discussions and help shape and influence future mobility solutions not only for South Africa, but for other markets around the world. Highly effective networking and interaction opportunities will be activated during this event to ensure that the most relevant stakeholders connect with each other and that decisions that would meaningfully transform the industry are discussed, considered and implemented.

The SA Auto Week will convincingly pay attention to the automotive latest technologies, policies currently under consideration, case studies and globally benchmarked business models to better understand the impact on the future of the industry, the future of work, the environment, and the economy to ensure that the right decisions are made to support South Africa’s recovery and economic growth ambitions. This international hybrid event has been officially endorsed by the International Organisation of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers [OICA] and will be attended by industry associations and stakeholder from thirty three [33] countries around the world physically and virtually.

Mikel MABASA, naamsa CEO said, “We are thrilled that for the first time in the history of the automobile industry in Africa, naamsa will bring the world’s industry giants to the African soil, for futuristic and groundbreaking conversations and business opportunities. With the government having identified the automotive sector as a key sector for economic development in the country, SA Auto Week will pay attention to the latest automotive technologies and policies currently under consideration, to ensure that the right decisions are made to support South Africa’s recovery and economic growth ambitions,” added Mikel MABASA.
