Fiat Doblo

The multiple awards winning Fiat Doblo Cargo is launched with a choice three engine derivates: one petrol, a 1.4 and two diesel derivatives, 1.3 Multijet and 1.6 Multijet. The new model was designed to offer excellent performance, low running costs, quiet operation and comfort while also being reliable and environmentally friendly

The 1.4 petrol and 1.3 Multijet will be offered in short wheelbase guise while the 1.6 Multijet Maxi offers added space and versatility thanks to its long wheelbase configuration.

The 1.4-litre petrol engine develops 70kW at 6000rpm and boasts a maximum torque output of 127Nm at 4500pm. Mated to a five-speed manual transmission it delivers ample performance with optimal fuel efficiency, averaging 7.2l/100km on a combined cycle route and emitting 169g/km of CO2.

The 1.3 Multijet is mated to a five-speed manual transmission that produces 66kW at 4000rpm and 200Nm at 1750rpm ensuring optimal versatility. It uses just 5.2l/100km of diesel on the combined cycle and it emits 136g/km of CO2.

The 1.6 Multijet ups the stakes with 77kW on offer at 4000rpm and 290Nm delivered at just 1500rpm. Utilising a six-speed manual transmission it is as efficient as it is responsive with a combined cycle fuel consumption figure of only 5.4l/100km and a CO2 emissions figure of 143g/km.

Thanks to an advanced bi-link independent rear suspension the Doblo Cargo delivers class-leading ride qualities, akin to that of a passenger vehicle. This goes a long way to ensuring that even the most fragile of loads remain well looked after. The advanced design also allows for space optimisation that sees even the short wheelbase models able to accommodate up to two standard euro pallets. The short wheelbase model can accommodate a 750kg load in standard guise but can be upgraded to accommodate a 1000kg load while the long wheelbase version features a 1000kg capacity as standard.

Outer dimensions are larger than the previous model: 4390 mm long, 1832mm wide, 1854mm high and with a wheelbase of 2755mm with a loading volume of 3.4m3. The Doblo Maxi has an outer length of 4740mm, a height of 1880mm and the same width as the short wheelbase and a loading volume of 4.2m3. The load threshold (54.5 cm from the ground) remains the same as the previous model.

The cargo area has been designed to offer maximum accessibility and exploitability thanks to its square, regular design.

It is equipped with sliding side-access doors and generously-sized rear doors to make light work of loading and unloading. Door handles have been designed to be operated with either the right or left hand and are sized for use with gloves. Specially, the rear door handle can be opened with one finger, great when carrying large packages.

The front end expresses a strong, clear-cut personality and is well balanced with the total dimensions of the vehicle: prominent features are the big headlights and a large, rounded hood. The bumpers – available painted in the same colour as the body and with a large “mouth” and Fiat badge in the middle – pick up on the style of the previous model. The front end is complemented by a large windscreen that makes the passenger compartment brighter and improves visibility.

The side view of the Doblo Cargo is typified by clean-cut lines which make the vehicle look dynamic and streamlined. The elements which contribute to the vehicle’s personality are the large wing mirrors with built-in side indicators and shiny black rear door pillars. The sliding side doors are perfectly integrated into the side while the stylistic solution of the sliding guide – recessed and integrated in the vehicle body – is reminiscent of that adopted on many MPVs.

The rear end immediately suggests the large loading volume and spacious interior. The asymmetric swing doors are available panelled or glazed.

Roominess and brightness are the first things noted aboard the Doblo Cargo. The interior includes a roof shelf, larger and more functional than the one featured in the previous model. The side door holders can hold two half litre bottles of water and an A4 sized folder, while the large glove box with lock and key can accommodate a 14” laptop computer. An open compartment above the glove box and many other handy compartments for holding small and large objects, such as mobile phones, pens and coins, are found throughout.

To ensure optimal dynamic behaviour, comfort and active safety in all road and load conditions, the Doblo is equipped with innovative mechanical solutions, including state-of-the–art electronic stability control devices, such as ABS with EBD (electronic brake force distribution).

With crumple zones and front airbags the new Doblo Cargo is designed and built with high passive safety levels.

All models in the Doblo range will have a standard 3 year / 100 000km warranty and a 4 year / 60 000km service plan.
