South Africa Chefs bring mouth-watering entertainment to the Rand Show
Shows like Masterchef and Ramsay's Cookalong Live prove one thing: that watching talented people cook is hugely entertaining. So it’s no wonder that the Rand Show has once asked the SA Chefs Association to whip up something special for this year’s showgoers, from 6-15 April.
The South African Chefs Association (SACA) is hosting its tantalising and inspirational food theatre for the third year running, and once again, it promises to be a feast for the senses.
Come and learn the secrets and tips of the pros and sample the delectable seasonal and local offerings being whipped up in the entertaining food demonstrations presented by top chefs from Joburg andCape Town. These masters of the culinary arts will create dishes sure to tantalise the taste buds and stimulate the creativity in even the most reluctant home cook.
Culinary Team SouthAfrica, our very own ‘culinary Springboks’, will also be demonstrating the outstanding talent of Mzansi’s chefs. The 20-chef team will hold food demonstrations throughout the course of the Rand Show, showing visitors exactly the kind of talent and passion needed to be sublime in the kitchen.
The team’s chefs are honing their skills for the Culinary Olympics in October this year. The world’s oldest cooking competition, this event coincides every four years with the Olympics. Culinary Team South Africa will participate in the ‘Restaurant of Nations’ or ‘Hot Kitchen’, creating 110 starters, mains and desserts in just three hours. So come and show your support for SA’s ‘green and gold’ in the kitchen.
And on the subject of competing in the kitchen, the SA Chefs Food Theatre will also host the Rhodes Real Pantry Cook of the Year. Finalists of this competition will compete in a cook-off under the watchful eye of SACA judges and show visitors.
Finally, to round off this gastronomic feast, who’s for a coffee? Barista Championship winners from the Speciality Coffee Association of South Africa (SCASA) will be educating and entertaining visitors with their demonstrations that highlight the finer arts of coffee making and coffee appreciation.
Spot prizes will be given away during the course of each day, and there’ll be other foodie surprises to look forward to.
So this Easter holiday, come along to the Rand Show 2012 and the SA Chefs Food Theatre. Your taste buds will thank you for it.
