Hollywood actor named Jaguar brand ambassador for South Africa
Pretoria, 23 May 2014: From the runaway success of District 9, to The A-Team and Elysium to his current performance opposite Angelina Jolie in the multi-million dollar Disney film “Maleficent”, Sharlto Copley has been described as a local icon of Hollywood accomplishment. When away from the Hollywood cameras and back on home soil, he’ll now be found driving a Jaguar.
The world-class individual prides himself as being South African and has unwavering ambition – a facet of the international actor that has helped him into leading Hollywood roles.
Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa is proud to announce their formal relationship with Copley.
“Sharlto is a great example of a local star doing great things on the global stage,” said Peter Biven, Marketing Director for Jaguar Land Rover SA & SSA. “He makes Jaguar locally relevant while enjoying international success – quite similar to his international success from a local footprint.”
Copley and Jaguar’s partnership has the potential to typify continued achievement as well as providing a platform to showcase some the world’s finest and most exclusive vehicles.
“I’m very proud to be associated with Jaguar,” said Copley. “Their new range of vehicles represent a new era for this classic, exceptional brand – comprehensively closing the door on the idea that a Jag is ‘your grandfather’s car’. It has become a very sexy, very cool brand and the F-TYPE Coupé is one of the most exciting and exhilarating cars on the road today.”
The Jaguar brand has experienced a transformation over the past few years and has one of the most exciting model line-ups waiting in the wings to continue dazzling younger and younger customers. “The F-TYPE Coupé combines high-tech innovation with raw power. It’s a sexy, stylish and an utterly thrilling car to drive,” said Copley.
And the market is voting with their feet. Jaguar’s recently introduced F-TYPE is South Africa’s best-selling sportscar in its segment – out-pacing the traditionally dominant German players. The upcoming launch of the F-TYPE Coupé will further cement Jaguar as a cool brand of performance orientated cars, not to mention the exciting promise of Jaguar’s future compact executive sedan that will bring innovative aluminium technology at an attractive price.
Copley will be driving a Jaguar F-TYPE in and around South Africa throughout the year alongside partner and international supermodel Tanit Phoenix.
