Huff And Menu Win The Two Pau Races, Confirming Cruze’s Superiority In Street Circuits
PAU, Sunday 17th May was another glorious day for the Cruze, as the Chevrolet team obtained the second double win in a row, in the extremely demanding street circuit of Pau.
Just two weeks after triumphing in Marrakech, the Cruze won both races of the Race of France, confirming its current excellent form. Rob Huff won Race 1 and Alain Menu did the same in Race 2, with Rob taking third position. With this great result, the Cruze positions itself as “Queen of the city”, having won all races held so far in street circuits during this WTCC season.
Following the stewards’ decision late last night to disallow all of the times per lap of nine drivers, for exceeding maximum engine revs during the lap the time was set on, Huff, Larini and Menu were respectively 4th, 7th and 8th on the grid.
Rob Huff took with authority race 1, while Alain Menu finished eighth, securing pole position for Race 2. The second race was marked by an incredible incident, as the safety car was hit by the car of the early leader. When the race resumed, Alain took control to the end. Nicola Larini was this time the unlucky one among Chevrolet drivers, as he was twice an innocent victim of race incidents.
