29 October 2012, PRETORIA – The award-winning Range Rover Evoque has been named a 2013 South African Car of the Year (COTY) finalist by the SA Guild of Motoring Journalists (SAGMJ). The popular five-door Si4 Dynamic model was voted by the country’s top motoring media as a worthy contender for the overall COTY title.

In global production for just over a year, the Range Rover Evoque continues to generate immense interest with over 80,000 sales globally already. The stylish Evoque has also garnered over 110 global awards including World Design Car of the Year, North American Truck of the Year, and most recently Women’s Car of the Year in South Africa from Women on Wheels.

The Range Rover Evoque continues to receive plaudits for its concept car looks, dynamic driving performance, class-leading off-road skills and excellent cost of ownership.

“We’re delighted to be in the running for South Africa’s premier motoring accolade,” said Kevin Flynn, Managing Director for Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and Sub Sahara Africa. “The Range Rover Evoque is just one of so many exciting products from the company and a taste of what’s to come. Highly respected globally, we’re all very proud of the Evoque.”

The Range Rover Evoque Si4 Dynamic is powered by a turbocharged 2,0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with remarkable fuel economy and tractability. Driving through a six-speed automatic transmission with rotary-dial shift, the 177kW Evoque is capable of 0-100km/h in 7,6 seconds while returning 8,7 l/100km. Its all-wheel drive system makes it as adept and refined on the road as it is off the road, all in Range Rover style.

Si4 Prestige models as well as SD4 2,2-litre diesel and three-door Coupe derivatives are also available in the rakish Range Rover Evoque line-up.
