It is tradition for Japanese people to send New Year Greeting Cards to each other on New Year's day. This tradition still lives on strong today, and it is expected that millions of New Year's cards will be exchanged this year.
Japan New Year a Cultural Experience
The Japanese celebrates New Year with the "Hatsumode festivities" - On the first day of the New Year thousands of Japanese will celebrate "Harsumode" by going to the temples and Shrine's. At midnight on New Year's Eve bells are rung, to ring in the New Year.

On the 2nd day of the New Year in Japan, thousands of people will make their way to the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. During this time the emperor will speak to the people and wish the Happy Holidays!
