Volkswagen South Africa will present the new Beetle and Golf Cabriolet at the 2011 Johannesburg International Motor Show at Expo Centre, Nasrec, on 6-16 October.

“This is the most anticipated motor show in the history of the event and Volkswagen has gone all out to ensure that visitors to our stand are not disappointed. We will present fascinating products that show Volkswagen’s innovative and emotional side,” said Mike Glendinning, Director: Sales and Marketing, Volkswagen Group South Africa.

The main attraction on the Volkswagen booth in Hall 6 will be the 21st century Beetle, which is reinterpreting the design of the original (first generation) Beetle which sold 21,5 million units. The Beetle is characterised by a clean, self-confident and dominant sportiness. It is bolder, more dynamic and more masculine.

The new four-seater Golf Cabriolet offers an innovative soft top with an electro-hydraulic drive that opens in 9,5 seconds. It is one of the quietest convertibles on the market. Its soothing quietness is attributable to the new optimised soft top. The top can be open or closed during driving at the speeds of up 30km/h.

In total, Volkswagen’s 2 184m2 booth will exhibit 20 cars including the new Tiguan and an exciting concept car that gives a glimpse of the future of the Volkswagen brand.

Volkswagen’s theme at the 2011 Johannesburg International Motor Show is Think Blue, which is a philosophy that encompasses the Brand’s BlueMotion Technologies – fuel saving and low CO2 emitting vehicles and fostering partnerships with environmental organisations. Part of the booth will exclusively exhibit five models that currently carry the BlueMotion and BlueMotion Technology badges, namely Touareg, Tiguan, Volkswagen CC, Polo and Golf.

Meanwhile, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will present the new Crafter at its stand in Hall 5. The new Crafter, which sports a new front end design, now boasts a loading capacity ranging between 9m3 and 17m3. It will be introduced with two cleaner and innovative new common rail 4-cylinder 2.0 TDI 80kW and 2.0 BiTDI 120kW engines.

Other vehicles on show on the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ stand will be Amarok, Caddy and T5 model range.

Visitors to the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ outdoor stand will get an opportunity to experience Amarok’s smart and proven off road prowess on a specially built 4×4 track.
