Following the announcement of TAS Suzuki’s 2012 plans with new team sponsor Tyco on the Suzuki stand at Motorcycle Live yesterday, Suzuki GB has also announced its revised 2012 racing programme, offering a revitalised choice of options for racers.
Headed by three-times British Superbike Champion John Reynolds, now Suzuki’s racing director, the re-launched racing programme offers racers a three-tiered choice, with subsidised packages available to suit most budgets.
Like previous years, option one will offer a parts account that gives race licence holders the opportunity to purchase genuine Suzuki parts at subsidised rates, while option two allows racers to purchase a standard GSX-R600, 750 or 1000, at a reduced rate, with the same subsidised parts account included too.
But new for 2012 is the addition of the third option, where racers can have a brand-new GSX-R hand-built by the TAS Suzuki British Superbike team, meeting the required specification and technical regulations of 600cc Superstock, 600cc Supersport, 1000cc Superstock or British Superbike classes.
John Reynolds explained further, commenting,“We’ve run the racing programme for several years and it’s been a success. However, feedback has shown that there is a requirement for more than just standard machines at reduced rates, and so with this three-tiered approach, our racing programme can really appeal to all levels of racer.
“While the subsidised cost of parts in option one is available to anyone holding a current and valid ACU licence, we can now offer a full service for the club racer that benefits from a reduced priced bike to get onto the grid, through to the privateer team that needs a cost effective way to enter Supersport, Superstock or even Superbike.”
