Not one but two models from Mercedes-Benz will be celebrating their market launch in Germany this Saturday morning when customers are expected to head to the showrooms for the dealership premiere of the C-Class and GLA-Class. At the same time, the GLA 45 AMG is also celebrating its sales release. Mercedes-Benz Bank offers attractive financial services, as well as an all-round package including insurance against all risks and liability for the new models.
“To date the C-Class has been the best-seller in our vehicle range – over 2.2 million customers have purchased a C-Class saloon, estate or coupé since 2007. The new model provides new dimensions in terms of technology, ecology, comfort, high-class appeal, driving pleasure and also a sense of spaciousness, and is a central building block in our Mercedes-Benz 2020 growth strategy,” notes Ola Källenius, Member of the Divisional Board Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales. “And with the GLA our strategic product initiative in the spring is supported by a second pillar: with it we are expanding the comprehensive SUV range from Mercedes-Benz with an emotionally appealing variant and as such are exploiting the constantly growing compact SUV segment.”
Production of the new C-Class is starting in four locations and on four continents within a period of six months: in Bremen (Germany), East London (South Africa), Beijing (China) and for the first time also in Tuscaloosa (Alabama, USA). The GLA extends the range of compact cars produced in Rastatt. The start of production was introduced during the three-shift operation of the A-Class, and without reducing cycle times.
The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class: sheer attraction
The new C-Class heralds a further chapter in the Mercedes-Benz success story and sets new standards in the premium medium-size category. Thanks to an intelligent lightweight design concept allowing weight savings of up to 100 kilograms, excellent aerodynamics and new economical engines, the C Class establishes new efficiency benchmarks in its segment. A host of new assistance systems offer safety of the highest standard, while a new suspension, optionally air-sprung, provides for exemplary ride and driving comfort as well as nimble and agile handling.
In terms of appearance the new C-Class adopts a progressive approach with its clear yet emotional design and its high-class interior. Many other innovations and interior touches underscore the saloon’s energising comfort and refined sportiness. In all, the high-class appeal of the new C-Class feels like an “upgrade to a higher class of vehicle”.
The new Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class: multi-talented
Progressive in design, serene in day-to-day motoring and with good off-road capability: a wanderer between automotive worlds, the Mercedes-Benz GLA reinterprets the compact SUV segment in convincing style. It lightfootedly masters all day-to-day challenges and is also robust enough for off-road excursions.
The first Mercedes-Benz in the fast-growing compact SUV segment is highly manoeuvrable around town (length x width x height: 4417 x 1804 x 1494 millimetres), lively on country and pass roads and dynamic and efficient on the motorway (Cd figure of 0.29). The high-quality appointments, developed with a loving attention to detail, and the flexible interior clearly position the GLA as a compact premium SUV. As a serene day-to-day companion the GLA has a flexible and variable interior. As the first Mercedes SUV, the GLA is optionally available with the new generation of 4MATIC all-wheel drive with fully variable torque distribution.
The new GLA 45 AMG: the all-rounder with driving performance
With the new GLA 45 AMG the performance brand of Mercedes-Benz is making a dynamic statement in the strongly growing segment of the compact SUV. The combination of the powerful and distinctive design, exclusive appointments as well as superior engine power and driving performance is unique: the most powerful series-production four-cylinder engine in the world puts 265 kW (360 hp) and 450 Nm on the road. With a fuel consumption of 7.5 litres per 100 kilometres (NEDC combined; CO2: 175 g/km) and compliance with the EU 6 emissions standard, the GLA 45 AMG once again provides proof that at Mercedes-AMG maximum performance does not come at the expense of environmental compatibility. The GLA 45 AMG also holds the pole position with regard to driving dynamics: it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). Thanks to the combination of standard-fit performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission, the GLA 45 AMG impresses with its equally sporty and efficient drive system concept.
