Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town – Icons in the making


A change of scene at the International Convention Centre as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town takes over the complex.  In fact, the whole of Cape Town is a-buzz with fashion designers, fashion artists, buyers and fashionable VIP guests.

This year’s event marks a celebratory ten year milestone for the host city of Cape Town.

Mercedes-Benz has established itself as an experienced partner of major international fashion platforms and is now actively involved in the fashion world of South Africa. As title sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg, Mercedes-Benz Cape Town and Mercedes-Benz Africa, the brand joins the fashion capitals of the world, such as Berlin, New York, Paris, Milan, Moscow and London.

A host of top South African designers, coupled with emerging young talent, will take to the runway, showcasing their latest designs to eagerly awaiting fashion media, photographers and fashionistas.  The programme of events runs from Wednesday 25 July to Saturday 28 July and is jam-packed with more than 26 designers taking to the runway, showcasing around 28 shows.

“Following our tremendously successful Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg, where we were simply enthralled by the exquisite fashion designs and elaborate concepts, we have eagerly awaited Mercedes-Benz Cape Town,” says Dr Zimmermann, President and CEO, Mercedes-Benz South Africa at the glitzy event on Thursday evening.

“The theme for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town is “Icons in the Making” and as Mercedes-Benz celebrates 60 years of a very special icon, the SL Roadster, it was only fitting to present the latest SL 63 AMG roadster to the show-goers.  Mercedes-Benz has created visionary designs during every automotive styling era and in the field of car design, Mercedes-Benz has managed it again and the proof is here for us” adds Zimmermann.
