Major technological innovations that are revolutionary in the boating world will take centre-stage at Suzuki’s stand at the

Johannesburg Boat Show

held at the Nasrec Expo Centre on August 24 to 26.

First amongst these global innovations is Suzuki’s new DF20A with ground-breaking battery-less fuel injection, which gives the motor a far smoother power delivery with an almost complete absence of vibration.

The world’s first outboard battery-less injected  motor in the 15/20 hp class offers battery-less starting, class-leading low fuel consumption, and an excellent spread of low speed torque ensuring rapid acceleration without compromising fuel economy. The engine is also noted for its impressively low idling speed.

“The engine is also extremely light, having a class-leading overall weight of just 44 kg, which makes it ideal for fitment to a number of boats, including RIBS and tenders,” says Tanja Maes, Suzuki Marine Division’s Manager in South Africa.

Suzuki’s engineers achieved this by designing special small components for the engine, as well as the special technology to enable battery-less injection, such as a high-pressure, in-line fuel pump, a new throttle-body, and a compact fuel cooler, fuel vapour separator, and the injector itself.

The other “world first Innovative development on Suzuki’s stand will be the DF300AP Lean Burn engine, which has been improved with Suzuki Selective Rotation.

By changing the gear-shift mode and adding a counter rotational propeller, the same outboard can operate in counter rotation mode (anti-clockwise) Ultimately, by eliminating the differences in specification between regular and counter rotation models, Suzuki has achieved what no other outboard manufacturer has been able to do – unification of both regular rotation and counter rotation operations into a single outboard model.

The new motor also benefits from two water intakes on each side of the gear case to ensure stable cooling at both high and low speeds.

These innovations have resulted in Suzuki winning numerous international Innovation awards, and Suzuki has also been selected as the sole supplier of marine outboard motors for the support boats used at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Sailing Regatta.

Apart from these innovations, Suzuki’s stand at the Johannesburg Boat Show will include all it major models available locally, including the extremely popular DF60.

“Suzuki SA is excited to step into a new era with the new Johannesburg Boat Show” says Tanja Maes,” an event that promises to offer visitors an entertaining and engaging experience. Do not miss it and discover Suzuki’s World’s First Innovations at the JHB Boat Show!”
