March 2014 – LIQUI MOLY continues to grow. The German lubricant specialist exceeded its record turnover from 2012. Last year, turnover increased by four per cent to €415 m. The number of employees also significantly increased in this time. Investments of around €20 m are to be made over the next two years.
The number of employees grew by 53 to 646 over the past year. “When the condition of a company is being described, sadly these figures don’t hold the same weight as turnover, profit or profit margins,” says CEO Ernst Prost. Along with the number of employees, turnover also grew, rising to €415 million, four per cent more than in the previous year.
Turnover only increased slightly in Germany. This lack of growth was, on the one hand, due to the insolvency of the DIY chain ‘Praktiker’ and, on the other, great competitive pressure. LIQUI MOLY now has such a strong position on the German market that big leaps in turnover are no longer to be expected.
There was a boom in the export business, which grew by ten per cent in 2013. This was partially due to LIQUI MOLY being sold in an ever-increasing number of countries. Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Jamaica were new additions in 2013. LIQUI MOLY products are now sold in more than 110 countries.
In order to be equipped for further growth, LIQUI MOLY is investing around €20 m over the coming years; most of which will flow into oil production. Ernst Prost: “These investments are a part of the performance promise that we make with the ‘Made in Germany’ sign of quality.”
