Lexus NX is blooming marvelous
NX makes its UK public debut at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show
Is Lexus trying to lead you up the garden path? Well…actually yes.
Without beating around the bush, the all-new Lexus NX crossover is the centerpiece - a rose amongst the thorns if you like - at the “Quiet Mark” treehouse and garden display by John Lewis at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Hampton Court Palace Flower Show this week (8 to 13 July). This green-fingered extravaganza is the world’s largest annual flower show.
Not ones to let the grass grow under their feet, Lexus UK unveiled the newcomer at the show, thereby providing an early opportunity for the public to take a close look at the new model, ahead of its official UK launch in October.
Reinforcing its relationship with Quiet Mark, an international seal of approval from the UK’s Noise Abatement Society which encourages the design of quieter, high-performance technology Lexus is appropriately showcasing the hybrid version of the NX. When driven at low speeds with near-silent running and zero tailpipe emissions (and fuel consumption), the NX certainly comes up roses. No shrinking violet, the strikingly chiseled newcomer will makes its formal South African debut during the first quarter of 2015 and is likely to be a thorn in the side of many a manufacturer peddling premium crossovers. In addition to the hybrid model, the NX will also launch in SA with the exciting, all-new 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol engine.
