7th January 2008 – Land Rover South Africa (LRSA) is heading into 2008 with confidence, having achieved its most successful sales month in December 2007 of 674 units. Not just satisfied with having had a exceptional December, LRSA went on to achieve an all time sales record for a calendar year – 5 744 units.

Irene Bezuidenhout, Land Rover’s National Sales Manager, said, “This is a great achievement and it’s always satisfying to break past records. This sales success can be attributed to an exciting product line up, improved product quality, a strong dealer network and people who are passionate about the Land Rover brand.

The fact that the Freelander 2 has been nominated as a finalist in the 2008 Car Of The Year competition also assisted in boosting our sales. This fantastic sales achievement was not based on volume fleet deals – 99% of the sales were delivered by our dealers and can therefore be seen as a true reflection of the retail market acceptance”

Andrew Daniel, Managing Director, Jaguar and Land Rover South Africa, said, “These fantastic sales figures, in a background of a falling total industry volume, demonstrate that more than ever, customers want the breadth of capability that only a Land Rover can provide. The new products we have designed, engineered and built over the last six years, together with a substantial increase in quality and reliability, have driven this growth and dramatically transformed the Land Rover brand.”

Despite the negative overall market conditions, our internal indicators reflecting customer satisfaction and customer retention indices as well as general customer feedback, show a continued growing swell of support for the Land Rover brand and its current product line-up.

2007 was a truly outstanding year for Land Rover as a company. Over 225,000 vehicles were sold worldwide, a first in Land Rover’s near 60-year history – an anniversary we will be celebrating in April this year. Confidence in the Land Rover brand is high and we are firmly on track for a great 2008!
