Land Rover was awarded gold for its striking stand at this year’s 2012 Tourism Indaba. Thousands of local and international visitors from the tourism industry visited the Albert Luthuli Convention Centre inDurbanbetween 12 and 15 May.
Land Rover displayed its new Defender Game Viewer alongside a prototype electric version of the Defender. The vehicles were showcased in a fitting environment with the stand resembling that of a luxury safari lodge.
Land Rover received the honour at a function on Monday 14 May. The awards were judged by an independent panel of judges, with exhibitors being divided into eight categories, including: Tour Operators, Transportation, Accommodation, DEC, SADC, Outdoor, Marketing, Sponsorships.
Land Rover walked away with a Gold award in the Sponsorship category for the creative execution of its stand.
“Tourism Indaba has become an increasingly important event for us. This year over 13 000 travel and tourism delegates from around the globe attended the show. It was a unique opportunity for us to introduce our newly improved Defender Game Viewer that now boasts a 3 years / 100 000km warranty. We also had the opportunity to engage with the industry on our prototype electric version and gauge their interest in such a product becoming available in the future,” commented Roland Reid, Marketing Director Jaguar Land Rover SouthAfrica.
