Jayde Kruger (WAP Alto) increased his points tally at Kyalami Grand Prix circuit this weekend taking overall victory in the Formula Ford class. Kruger who leads the championship standings made no mistakes to take the day’s two victories.

Championship rival Leslie Reynolds (Investchem) now looks unlikely to catch the hard charging Kruger. Reynolds put in a strong performance on track to try and pull back some ground in the championship but was found to be underweight after the first race and was duly excluded from the results.

Pieter Norval (Nava Racing) therefore took second place in the first heat while Brandon Auby (The Glens Mica) had a great drive through the field to finish in a well deserved third  place. Nicholas van Wheels (Magnificent Paints and Hardware) was fourth ahead of Matthew Merton (Matsam Supplies), Gerard Pieters (Quality Living Space) and Tasmin Pepper (Ford / Ford Credit).

Ian Schofield (Invetchem /Chemical Logistics) took victory in the Zetec Challenge class with long time rival Allen Meyer taking second place ahead of Werner Scholtz ( L Scholtz Civils).

The start of heat two created some drama when a number of competitors didn’t get on to the track before the pitlane closed. Among those that would be forced to start from the back of the field were Leslie Reynolds, Matthew Merton and Gerard Peters.

With Reynolds relegated to the back of the field Kruger had a clear run at the front of the field to take an unchallenged victory. Reynolds drove a storming race form the back of the field to eventually cross the line in second place.

Nicholas van Wheely took the final podium position ahead of Tasmin Pepper, Francois van der Merwe (Bravo Holdings), Gerard Peters, Brandon Auby and Mathew Merton.
In the Zetec Challenge class it was Allen Meyer who took the second heat victory from Werner Scholtz and Andreas Petrou ( Investchem).

With only two rounds remaining in this year’s championship Kruger can virtually coast through to take the 2007 Formula Ford title. The next round of the championship will take place at Zwartkops Raceway on 29 September.
