Hino Will Feature Important New Models at the Johannesburg Truck & Bus Show
Hino will highlight several new models and derivatives in its comprehensive display at the Johannesburg Truck & Bus Show to be held at the Expo Centre next month. The display will include models in its Hino 700-, 500- and 300-Series ranges as well as the Toyota-badged Dyna, which is a very popular urban logistics transport vehicle.
An important new addition to the 700-series range of extra-heavy trucks is an 8×4 model, well suited for various applications in the construction industry, which Hino SA now aims to target with a wider range of its revitalised 700-Series models. The 8×4 model can be used for tipper, mixer or heavy duty freight carrier applications.
The mixer falls in a relatively small, but nevertheless significant niche which accounted for only 2.3% of the extra-heavy truck market last year but gives Hino a potentially good foothold in the important construction industry segment of the market.
A second 700-Series model will be on display. This is the flagship 2848 model which is a medium to long haul truck-tractor with a GCM of 65 000kg and a 480hp engine. It has a double sleeper cab and the option of air or steel suspension, while the ZF Astronic transmission as standard.
The new Hino 700-Series is fitted with a Euro IV engine which is more economical to operate, with lower exhaust emissions. There are several important new features which will be announced at the time of the show.
The popular Hino 500-Series will be represented by the 500 FL, which is a 6×2 freight carrier. It will be the first model in this series to have a Euro IV engine, while it also has a full-floating cab and anti-lock brakes.
Two models from the top-selling Hino 300-Series will be exhibited, the Crew Cab and the 25- to 37-seater commuter bus developed in a joint venture with Busmark 2000.
The Crew Cab will be the 815 derivative with a fully automatic 6-speed transmission and a very high standard specification in terms of comfort, convenience and safety features.
The new Hino brand campaign, driven by the brand tagline Keep on Truckin’, will be used as the theme for the display at the show. The multi-media campaign is aimed at promoting Hino SA’s focus on providing the best possible sales and service experiences in the country so that its customers are supplied with the correct trucks for their transport requirements and that top class back-up service ensures that downtime is kept to a minimum.
Hino is confident that its on-going introduction of models to meet specific customer requirements and the continuous improvements being made to each of its product ranges, which will be showcased at Expo Centre, will provide evidence of its ability to ensure it remains among the leaders of the SA truck market into the future
