Jeep Wrangler Arctic the Jeep icon gets ready for the extreme North


The all-new Jeep Wrangler Arctic special-edition model features a unique winter-themed exterior and interior design enhanced by exclusive styling cues and details, unique black 17-inch wheels, body-color hard top and original Mopar® accessories.

The new special-edition model recalls the demanding environments of the arctic in order to highlight how, thanks to legendary off-road capabilities improved in seven decades of technical development, the iconic Jeep Wrangler is capable of mastering the most hostile routes and the most challenging driving conditions.

In Italy, the new Arctic model will be powered by the 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine and will be introduced in the Jeep showrooms in the first quarter of 2012 in both two-and four-door versions.

In order to highlight the most adventurous soul and the legendary 4×4 capability of Jeep Wrangler, Jeep showcases in Bologna the national première of the all-new Arctic special-edition model.

The rugged, extreme winter conditions of the arctic are the inspiration for the all-new Jeep Wrangler Arctic. With the new special model, Jeep expresses the desire to go beyond the known limits to venture into unexplored territories thanks to benchmark 4×4 capabilities continuously improved in seventy years of leadership in the segment.

The grueling and demanding environments in the arctic region offer the extreme driving conditions the legendary Jeep Wrangler was engineered to conquer: hostile routes, a severe climate with winter temperatures that can reach -45°C and wind speeds that can exceed 160 kilometers per hour.

The Arctic model is based on the Sahara trim line of Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The Arctic’s winter theme is immediately recognizable as it characterizes the exterior look and the design of the cabin.

Exterior features include aggressive black 17-inch wheels, a body-color hardtop and fender flares. A “Yeti Footprint” decal customizes part of the front-left fender flare and hood. The “Arctic” badge on the front fenders and the Mopar® black fuel-filler door complete the unique exterior of the special-edition model.

Inside, Jeep Wrangler Arctic’s seats are black Tectonic fabric with Polar White accents. The special Arctic Orange piping and accent stitching on the seats recall the hue of light of the Arctic sunset. Front seats are heated and feature an “Arctic” logo on the front seat backs. Accent stitching can also be found on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, armrests and console lid. Door trim and cargo nets are accented in Arctic Orange, and all grab handles and dashboard vent rings are finished in Polar White trim.

The unique features of the special-edition model also include the “Arctic” logo that adorns the tachometer and the Mopar® tread-pattern slush mats with “Jeep” lettering. Jeep Wrangler Arctic will be available in the all-new Winter Chill color and in Bright White.

Engineered to master the most challenging off-road tracks, Jeep Wrangler Arctic features an enhanced Dana 30 front axle and enhanced Dana 44 rear axle. Standard 4×4 system equipped on the Arctic model is the Command-Trac® NV241 part-time, two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio.

Available for Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited, the new Arctic model will arrive in the Jeep showrooms in Italy in the first quarter of 2012. Jeep Wrangler Arctic will be powered by the 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine paired to the five-speed automatic transmission with Electronic Range Select. The 2.8-liter CRD engine produces 200 hp at 3,600 rpm and 460 Nm of torque at 1,600-2,600 rpm.

For driver’s and passengers’ comfort and well-being on board, the standard equipment of the new Arctic model offers automatic temperature control, leather-wrapped steering-wheel with integrated controls, front heated seats, height-adjustable driver seat, EVIC, cruise control and Uconnect® multimedia infotainment and navigation system with radio/CD/DVD/MP3/WMA, USB compatibility, AUX port, 30 gigabyte hard disk and touch screen.

Offering a choice of three different trim levels – Sport, Sahara and Rubicon – the Jeep Wrangler lineup in Italy is powered by the efficient 2.8-liter common rail turbo diesel engine matched to a six-speed manual and a five-speed automatic transmission and with the new 3.6-liter V-6 petrol engine recently introduced in the lineup and paired with a five-speed automatic gearbox (not available on Jeep Wrangler Sport).

The same engine choice is available on Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, which is offered in two different trim lines: Sahara and Rubicon. All Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited models equipped with manual transmission feature fuel-saving Stop/Start technology.
