Japie Badenhorst

Japie Badenhorst joins driver Chris Visser in the Atlas Copco Ford Racing Ranger (#T2) once again for 2014.

He has been a long-time navigator for Visser, having sat alongside him since 2003 in the South African Off Road Production Vehicle Championship (later to become the SA Cross Country Championship).

Badenhorst guided Visser to consecutive championship titles in 2005 (Class E) and 2006 (Class D). The following year they stepped up to the premier Super Production (SP) category, and wrote their names in the record books in 2010 by becoming the first-ever privateers to win the national cross country championship overall.

In 2011 Badenhorst joined Visser in the Team Ford Racing squad run by Neil Woolridge Motorsport. They campaigned a diesel-powered Ford Ranger in the series for two years, claiming second overall in the South African Cross Country Championship in 2012.

2013 saw the debut of the all-new 5,0-litre V8 Ford Ranger which the team used to great effect in once again securing second place overall. Consistency has been this pairing’s forte’ as they finished on the podium on all but one of the season’s eight rounds.

As an avid runner, he has finished the gruelling Comrades Marathon 12 times.
