JACQUES BRENT APPOINTED EXECUTIVE MARKETING DIRECTOR FORD ASIA, PACIFIC AND AFRICA

Silverton, Pretoria – 1 July 2010 – Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa says farewell to Jacques Brent, vice president of Marketing, Sales and Service for Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa as he takes on an exciting new role as the Executive Marketing Director in the Asia Pacific and Africa office in Shanghai, effective from 01 July 2010.

“It is with great sadness that we say farewell to Jacques. While it is a loss to us he is faced with a fantastic and challenging opportunity and we wish him the best of luck and every success in his future endeavors,” says Jeffery Nemeth, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa.

Dean Stoneley, currently Vice President, Marketing at Ford Canada, will take up the position of vice president Marketing, Sales and Service at FMCSA on 01 July reporting to Jeffery Nemeth.

“We are pleased to welcome Dean to South Africa and I trust you will all show him the same warm welcome that I have enjoyed since my arrival in South Africa. Dean has big shoes to fill, but I have every confidence that with your support he will meet the challenge,” adds Nemeth.

Jacques Brent has an illustrious history at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa. He joined the company in 1995, and has held a number of senior management roles across the company, including GM for Mazda, National Sales Manager for Ford and Mazda, Managing Director of Volvo and Finance Director of Premier Automotive Group, which included the Land Rover, Jaguar and Volvo brands.

During his tenure at Volvo, Brent oversaw the successful launch of a number of new products, including the S40, which was named ‘2004 Car of the Year, and increased overall sales by more than 33 percent.

He later took up the reigns as General Manager of Mazda and was responsible for elevating the Mazda brand in Southern Africa through an aggressive product and dealer expansion strategy which included the Mazda2 being crowned 2008 Car of the Year, before being named vice president of Marketing, Sales and Service for Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa.

“Jacques has made significant contributions to our business in a number of senior management positions. We are all saddened by his departure but I hope that you will all join me in wishing him the best of luck in his new venture, an incredible opportunity for him and one that is certainly well deserved,” concludes Nemeth.
