- 253,846 units sold worldwide, best month on record
- Overseas sales jump 20 pct to 205,545, while Korean domestic sales fall 14.6 pct y-o-y
Hyundai Motor Company posted its best monthly sales performance ever in June as sales rose 11.4 percent to 253,846 units on a global basis from a year earlier.
This brings first half sales to a record high of 1,481,152 units, a 14.2 percent y-o-y increase.
The Korean domestic market was sluggish in June as sales dipped by 14.6 percent to 48,301 units while Hyundai’s domestic passenger car sales edged up by 6.4 percent to 32,234 units, led by demand for new products such as the Genesis, Sonata and i30.
Overseas sales were up 20 percent to 205,545 units.
“While we’re concerned by escalating oil and commodity prices, we’re on track to reach our sales target of 3 million units for this year thanks to brisk demand in China, India, as well as through our efforts in emerging markets such as Russia and the Middle East,” a Hyundai official said.
