HUGE BOOST IN VISITOR NUMBERS FOR ECOVELOCITY
EcoVelocity show organisers Media 10, has revealed that visitor numbers for the 9-day show were recorded at 57,909, representing a seven-fold increase on the numbers recorded for the 2011 launch. Car makers were thrilled with the results and overwhelmed with the number of test drive requests throughout the show.
EcoVelocity, the ground breaking eco car show joined forces with the organisers of Grand Designs Live earlier in the year and for the first time in May this year ran both shows side by side at ExCeL.
Giles Brown, MD of Ecovelocity stated, “We are delighted to report that running the shows side by side has really worked well, with both events benefitting from new audience visitors. The shows are complementary and provide useful information to consumers looking for a more sustainable lifestyle. Not only did we witness a growing level of interest from EcoVelocity-specific visitors, but also found that visitors to Grand Designs were keen to discover more about low carbon vehicles and how they could fit into their wider eco-living aspirations. It really broadened awareness and positively changed perceptions on a much wider scale.”
Media 10, which also organises The Ideal Home Show and 100% Design, purchased a majority stake in IGME Ltd, the organisers of EcoVelocity earlier this year. The partnership aims to capitalise on the growing public trend towards a low carbon, sustainable lifestyle and the rising demand for electric and hybrid vehicles.
“Ecovelocity this year proved that there is now real interest in electric vehicles and an understanding by the general public that our driving habits need to change. We were amazed at the level of knowledge and understanding of EVs exhibited by the show goers, very different from last year. We carried out over 650 test drives during the show which means our three electric demonstrators were on the go all the time. We are looking forward to next year’s event,” commented Paul Evans, Venture Automotive Ltd – Mia-Electric UK.

EcoVelocity is a ground breaking eco-car show that aims to showcase the car industry’s latest ‘green-technology’ vehicles available in the market place today. The show is structured to inform and educate visitors on green motoring technologies and provide numerous opportunities for test drives.

Car makers involved in the show included Chevrolet, Citroen, Peugeot, Nissan, Honda, Mia and Vauxhall as well as Fisker Karma, The Lightning Car Co, Tesla and Delta. Exhibitors included specialist publication TheChargingPoint.com, Schneider Electric, Rolec Services Ltd, Source London, ‘Get On’ representing the two-wheel world, Michelin, Zero Carbon World, Ben and Zipcar.
