Honda is inviting visitors to this year’s Auto Africa exhibition to bring along their whole family to enjoy a fun-packed experience on the Honda stand in Hall 7. Themed Zones
Honda’s stand will be split into five themed zones, each offering an exciting insight into the diverse world of Honda. The following zones will be available:

1. ASIMO Zone
He walks, he climbs stairs, he recognises your face – and if you ask nicely, he will even serve you a drink. Whether or not you say “thank you” is a matter for your own conscience. After all, robots are just machines, right? Wrong. visitors to the biennial Auto Africa exhibition will get their first look at Honda’s celebrated humanoid robot, ASIMO – and very few will dismiss him as “just a machine”.

ASIMO is an acronym for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility and is the culmination of 20 years of research. It has been designed to replicate the human body in many ways, and can walk, climb and descend stairs, and recognize noises, gestures and postures: wave and it’ll wave back, proffer a hand for shaking, and ASIMO will oblige.

In fact, it’s a very smart machine indeed. The robot is equipped with powerful computers (stashed in its backpack), gyros, servo motors, accelerometers and myriad other bits of electronic wizardry that allow it to walk autonomously and perform tasks much like a human. It’s designed to operate in the real world, a place where people need to reach for things, navigate along floors, pick up things, and recognise voices and faces.

ASIMO is a must see at this year’s Auto Africa and no visit to the show will be complete without being amazed by this little guy’s amazing abilities.

2. Sports Zone
Formula 1, MotoGP, World Suberbikes, Downhill Mountain Biking, IRL Indy Racing, MotoCross, Trail Bikes and many more; Honda’s DNA is based on a long tradition of competing at the highest level of Motorsport.

Visitors to the stand will be able to see an example of one of Honda’s Formula 1 cars that recently brought Jenson Button to his very first win at the Hungary F1 race.

And showcasing Honda’s two-wheeled GP exploits will be the Repsol Honda MotoGP bike, as ridden by Nicky Hayden. The RC211V is a five-cylinder four-stroke, displacing 990 cc and producing almost 180 kW!

In addition to this, will be the highly innovative mountain bike that brought South African Greg Minnaar the top position in the World Mountain Bike championship last year.

Sports car fans will be able to salivate over the Honda S2000, an exceptionally driver-orientated car which showcases Honda’s engine-building prowess – in fact, Honda is the world’s most prolific manufacturer of engines of all kinds. Lastly, road bike fans will be able to see an example of Honda’s legendary CBR1000RR Fireblade superbike. Able to blast from 0 to 100km in under 3 seconds and a top speed in the region of 300km/h, Honda’s Fireblade gives the man in the street the ability to purchase a machine that would easily shake off an automobile ten times its price on the racetrack.

3. Adventure Zone
Honda products are built for fun and excitement. On the road, off the road, at land or at sea, Honda has a product to cater for every adventure.

Combining SUV practicality but with more car-like driving dynamics and sportier styling, Honda’s all-new, third generation CR-V is a direct response to the growing demand for quality and premium products in the SUV market.  This all-new product is sure to set the benchmark in the compact SUV segment of the market.

In addition, visitors will be able to see examples of Honda’s latest go anywhere, do anything quad, motocross and Tourer bikes. Also to be seen in the Adventure Zone, Honda’s highly advanced 4-stroke Marine outboard engines.

4. Kids Zone
Honda really has something for everybody! Kids will be able to have the time of their life in the Kids Zone. Included in here will be the very latest XBOX 360 racing game as well as examples of Honda’s new range of bikes for kids starting from as young as five years old!

5. Product Zone
Of course, Auto Africa is a car show, and Honda has a fantastic range of cars for visitors to see. The Product Zone will show off examples of Honda’s latest range of automobiles.

Starting with Honda’s flagship sports sedan, the Honda Accord combines athletic dynamism with opulent luxury.

Of course, the new Civics will be there: both the family-orientated four-door which has blown a fresh wind through the C-segment of the market since February, and the striking five-door. They share a name and an engine – both are powered by the same 1,8-litre i-VTEC powerplant – but are completely different cars, designed on completely different platforms.

The funky Jazz, available with the highly fuel economical 1.4 i-DSI or sporty 1.5 VTEC engine options, boasts exceptional interior space and flexibility cleverly packed into a compact exterior design.

Lastly, Honda’s elegant 6-seater FR-V proves that an MPV doesn’t have to look like and handle like a bus. Boasting huge load space and flexibility, it offers head-turning good looks and sporty dynamics combined with Honda’s legendary build quality.

A family re-union not to be missed, Honda South Africa invites you to bring your family to meet ours and experience the power of dreams.
