GM Reports 270,423 Deliveries in February

GM dealers in the United States delivered a whopping 270,423 vehicles in February. This is largely due to the fast selling “Car of the year” Chevrolet Malibu and the Cadillac
CTS, arguably the most beautiful car to grace show rooms in 2008. If this is anything to go by, GM South Africa is on the verge of strong sales when the CTS reaches South African shores later on in the year.

“Our new launch vehicles, including the award-winning Chevrolet Malibu and Cadillac CTS, had a sensational month” said Mark LaNeve, vice president, GM North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. “Our sales increase at Cadillac shows the power of new products to attract consumers – even in a tough market,” LaNeve added.

GM’s fuel-efficient cars also saw strong growth. Chevrolet Cobalt total sales were up 56 percent with overall retail up 24 percent. Also of note, the Chevrolet Equinox compact crossover utility had total sales of more than 8,600 vehicles for a 15 percent increase, and a retail sales increase of 8 percent compared to a year ago.

Although some of these models are not destined for our shores, South Africans can expect an exciting array of cars from GM this year. One won’t have to look hard to find something just for them.
