Geely South Africa’s Chinese parent Company, Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd., unveiled a plug-in hybrid.
The new concept sedan, known as the Emgrand Cross, is powered by a 65kW + 40kW dual motor system combined with a 10kWh battery, the company said.
The Cross Hybrid has a top speed of 190 km/h and a range of 650 km. In EV mode only, the car can cover a distance of up to 50 km. A production version will go on sale in China in the second half of 2015, according to Geely.
Later this year, Geely plans to launch its first conventional hybrid model adapted from the petrol-powered Emgrand EC7 compact car. Further details about this vehicle have not been made available.
Geely Auto is the Hong Kong-listed subsidiary of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., a private company headquartered in the east China city of Hangzhou.
