Gaucho Productions has been shortlisted in the prestigious Event Awards for their recent project data.anatomy [civic], a new work by the acclaimed Japanese artist, Ryoji Ikeda. Hosted in Berlin, the event included a Private View attended by over fifty international art, design and lifestyle media, and more than four hundred local VIPs.

data.anatomy [civic] is a digital installation derived from the data set of the Honda Civic and was the brainchild of an extraordinary meeting between Ikeda and the project leader for the European Civic, Mitsuru Kariya. The two men met in early 2011 and following a series of discussions, the unprecedented step was taken to invite Ikeda to explore the complete and uncensored data for the car. Following a year of intensive work, data.anatomy [civic] by Ryoji Ikeda made its debut at MUMA Kraftwerk, Berlin in April 2012. Open to the public, it was visited by over four thousand people.

Three high-definition projectors were used to reveal data.anatomy [civic] on a bespoke wall measuring 20m x 4m. The 12-minute piece was complemented by an electronic soundscape also composed by Ikeda.

Gaucho Productions developed the concept for the project and managed the campaign – including the installation in Berlin, European media engagement, campaign microsite, social media engagement, the private view, the production of two films and the subsequent public exhibition.  The campaign has now been shortlisted for the Best PR Event or Stunt at the Event Awards with the winner being announced in October.

Speaking about the nomination, Gaucho Productions’ MD Alistair Weaver said, “data.anatomy [civic] was a culmination of two years hard work by a dedicated team and we are delighted to be shortlisted as a finalist in the Event Awards.  The project was received very positively by both the press and the public and it is great to know that we have now received industry recognition as well.”
