FUSO geared to attack the market.
Over the past months dedicated FUSO staff around the world, have been working tirelessly to get FUSO back to its rightful market share position. With all the necessary support from the headquarters in Japan, FUSO has surpassed the expectations of many with regards to vehicle stock and parts availability as well as a track record of uptime that is above the market segment average.
Koubs van Zyl, MBSA Vice President for commercial vehicles says: “We have committed ourselves to forming a strong plan for addressing the challenges that have been hurdles to the FUSO brand. Our new injected energies for FUSO will definitely increase our competitiveness and a continuing spirit of partnership with our customers”.
Thanks to the outstanding efforts of both our partners in Japan and the Mercedes-Benz South Africa commercial vehicle assembly plant in East London, the supply issues have now been resolved and the brand is now set to reclaim lost ground. In order to improve the Parts Availability issues experienced in the past FUSO is in the process of implementing an express delivery from Japan, by-passing the regular supply from Dubai.
Godfrey Hani, Divisional Manager for Freightliner, FUSO & Western Star says: “FUSO has made significant progress in re-establishing a strong market position globally; it is now up to us to leverage from our global scale to take the brand to even higher levels.”
From the 2012 earthquake and subsequent catastrophe, FUSO and MBSA have learnt many valuable lessons to help mitigate the effects of any other natural disasters or supply interruptions in the future.
FUSO hosted its customers at the East London plant recently where they were taken to the assembly line visit. The plant tour was a marvel of many that got exposed to the latest technologies and techniques used to manufacture the FUSO trucks they have all come to love. The day’s activities included first-hand experience of driving FUSO trucks at the Eat London Race Track, off road driving among others. The event was a major success and a good start to great things to come for FUSO.
