Tasmin Pepper (17) was offered a seat in the Asian Formula BMW series for 2008 after her two-day test with Eurasia Motorsport in Malaysia recently. The teenager currently competes in the South African National Formula Ford Championship where she lies fourth on the championship log.

Pepper impressed during the two day test at Sepang where she completed over 300 laps in both wet and dry conditions and got to within 0.5 of a second of the lap record. The team was very impressed with her ability to give feedback when they made changes to the car and commented on her ability to set the car up.

The Formula BMW is much more powerful than anything Pepper has driven before and was also her first experience piloting a car with wings, slicks and a sequential gear box.

The Eurasia Motorsport team was suitably impressed and has offered the young racer a seat in their team for the Asian Formula BMW series next year. The series will race at the Australian GP, Singapore GP and Japanese GP, with further rounds taking place at Sepang, China and Bahrain.

Pepper will be going to Sepang to participate in the Formula BMW Scholarship shootout in December, which awards the top 5 drivers $60 000.00 to use as budget for the 2008 season.

“I’m looking forward to Sepang as this could be my ticket to an international racing career,” says Pepper.” I’d like to thank Ford, Ford Credit, Investchem and Formula Ford for their support over the last two years and giving me the opportunity to compete on a national level in South Africa.”
