Ford in control of RFS Magalies South Africa
FORD IN CONTROL OF RFS MAGALIES 400
Tarlton, Saturday – Ford were in control of the Production Vehicle category on the RFS Magalies 400, opening round of the Absa Off Road Championship, here today.
After two of the three laps scheduled to make up the race, Team Ford Ranger factory crews were first and second. Former champions Chris Visser and Japie Badenhorst had a handy lead over team-mates Lance Woolridge and Ward Huxtable.
Third at this stage were Terence Marsh and George Smalberger in the Regent Racing Nissan Navara. The top five was rounded out by Christian du Plooy and Henk Janse van Vuuren (RFS Toyota X3) and Duncan Vos and Rob Howie in the Team Castrol Toyota Hilux.
On the Special Vehicle front Johan van Staden and new co-driver Mike Lawrenson were comfortably ahead of the Motorite Venom pair of Evan Hutchison and Danie Stassen. Third were Colin Matthews and Alan Smith, in the Century Racing CR3, who were also leading Class P.
Fourth were Laurence and Gerhard du Plessis in a Zarco Magnum with veteran Nardus Alberts and his son, Louis, fifth in the Wrapsa BAT.
