Capetonian Elizabeth Jonker might not be able to turn back the clock but she sure can wind it up again in her brand new Fiat 500. Ouma Bet, as she’s affectionately known (and her personalised numberplate testifies to), recently took delivery of her sparkling Bossa Nova white Cinquecento from Jacques Bester at Imperial Fiat & Alfa in Kuilsrivier.
The retro styling cues of the car are particularly appealing to the 82-year-old grandmother, as her very first car was a 1950’s Fiat 500. But, Elizabeth is even more enamoured with some of the modern features of this state-of-the-art supermini – she was tickled pink with the built-in Bluetooth connection as well as the USB port for her iPod.
Available with a choice of two frugal, ultra-low emissions, Euro 5 engines: 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol (in manual or MTA auto), the five-star EuroNCAP-rated Fiat 500 can be ordered in different trim levels including a Cabriolet version.
Here’s wishing Ouma Bet hundreds of happy miles behind the wheel of her 500 Sport MTA!
