London, 10 May 2012 – The Silverstone Grand Prix circuit will once again host the exciting Ferrari Racing Days in September, with a packed schedule of on-track activities from the F1 Clienti, FXX, 599XX, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli and the Ferrari Club Challenge. Apart from the end of season Finali Mondiali, the Ferrari Racing Days event at Silverstone is the only race meeting in Europe where Ferrari fans will be able to see all of these different track activities at the same venue on the same weekend.
The F1 Clienti will see important and historic F1 cars from Ferrari’s illustrious racing heritage take to the track each day for demonstration laps. Ferrari is unique amongst F1 teams because, not only has the Scuderia Ferrari won more F1 Constructor’s Titles than any other team, but also because it allows the most loyal and passionate Ferrari clients the chance to live their dream – to own and drive a Ferrari F1 car on a GP circuit.
The FXX and 599XX experimental development cars will also take to the track twice each day, for development work on new technologies that form the cornerstone of this programme, with Client Test Drivers pushing their XX cars to the limit on the fast and challenging Silverstone Grand Prix circuit. This is the only opportunity for Ferrari fans to see and hear the FXX Evoluzione and 599XX Evoluzione cars running on a circuit in the UK – with the Evoluzione versions of both cars sure to set the Northamptonshire countryside reverberating to the sound of high-revving Ferrari V12s on full throttle.
In addition to the F1 Clienti and FXX/599XX programmes, the Ferrari Racing Days event will see races from both the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli and the Ferrari Club Challenge. The Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is the one-make racing series for Ferrari’s mid-engined V8 cars, with packed grids of the 458 Challenge currently being raced by experienced and “Gentleman” drivers in two 30 minute races, in round 6 of the 8 race European series. The Ferrari Club Challenge is open to members of the Ferrari Owners Club (UK) with 355 / 360 / F430 / 458 Challenge cars competing for class honours.
Ferrari North Europe will also be attempting to reclaim the Guinness World Record for the Largest Parade of Ferrari Cars on the Saturday evening, at around 18:00. Having previously beaten the record in 2007, with an astonishing 385 cars on the Silverstone Circuit at the Ferrari Racing Days in 2007, the record currently stands at 490 cars. Ferrari North Europe intends to set a new record in excess of 500 cars, and is hoping to attract the support from Ferrari owners all over the UK and abroad to create what promises to be an absolutely memorable spectacle – with Silverstone turned completely red. In addition, Ferrari will be donating £5 for every car entered into the world record attempt to BEN, the automotive industry’s own charity (ben.org.uk).
