China FAW Group Corporation, or FAW for short, will soon be introducing their passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in South Africa for the first time. FAW is the largest vehicle manufacturer in China and will offer South African motorists a few new options on the motoring scene.

Product line-up for South Africa

Passenger vehicles:

There will be 2 passenger vehicles launched in South Africa in 2012.

1. The FAW V 2 (Vita):

The FAW Vita will be launched as a B-segment contender adding great value for money to the segment.  Taking advantage of VITA’s 20 years of compact passenger car experience, the new entry into South Africa will offer a sporty new 4-door hatchback combining outstanding fuel economy with a high level of standard features.  The Vita Hatchback will deliver comfort, space, safety, and performance using the latest automotive innovations and technology. The car’s modern styling is both attractive and enduring.

This 1.5 litre 5-speed, four-door, manual will offer electric windows, air conditioner and a central locking system. Some of the safety features will include dual airbags, ABS and EBD.

This stylish little run-around will offer an exciting and energetic look to customers who are in the market for a zippy car with lots of attitude.

The Vita will be available in South Africa towards the end of 2012.

2. The FAW Actis:

The Actis is a small MPV that will be launched towards the middle of next year and will provide great versatility and comfort to this segment. The Actis will be available in 2 engine derivatives, a 1.3 liter and 1.5 litre engine. Both of these will be available with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Some of the features on the Actis will include air conditioning, electric windows, airbags for the driver and the front passenger, ABS and EBD breaking system together with central locking as standard.

This MPV will offer comfortable loading and storage space for the whole family and offer driver comfort and convenience that will make it a strong contender in its class. Aggressive exterior styling and exceptional build quality will make it an eye-catcher on the roads when it arrives next year.

Light Commercial vehicles:

1. CA 1020 Mini Pickup’s

2. The Mini Panel Van

This vehicle offers small business entrepreneurs a fresh alternative to economical move-ability. With the versatility of a Van and the easy handling ability of a compact little carrier, the Mini Panel Van will soon become a favourite among many. This little 1.0 litre Panel Van has the seating capacity of 6 – 8 people and has a 5-speed manual transmission.

FAW trucks have been in South Africa for 16 years and they have and excellent reputation for quality and reliability. Following on this strong and steady reputation, March 2012 will be the official launch of Imperial’s new and exciting brand. After signing the initial agreement to do business in 2008, FAW is finally ready to enter into South Africa with this exciting line-up of passenger and light commercial vehicles.
