DRIVE PROVES TO BE A CROWD PLEASER AT WESTFIELD STRAFORD CITY
Westfield Stratford City was taken over by all things motor last week. Motor enthusiasts and fashionistas alike visited the DRIVE Motor Show in their hoards with the six day event attracting thousands of people to experience the very best in car brands, fashion, leisure and promotions on a colossus 1.9 million sq. ft. stage. Shopping definitely moved up a gear!
BMW, MINI, Honda, Hyundai and Nissan showcased their latest models alongside Gumball 3000 who brought along two Lamborghinis set to race in next month’s 14th Annual tour ‘From Sea to Shining Sea’. Not to be left out, bikers were just as entertained with Harley-Davidson®, Piaggio and Honda all exhibiting a range of bikes from the iconic to the latest models including the brand new Harley-Davidson® Sportster® Seventy Two™ and the XR1200X ™, winner of an incredible 29 ‘Flat Track’ Racing Titles!
As if that wasn’t enough DRIVE also played host to the world’s leading eco-friendly automotive vehicles from the likes of Tesla Motors and Nissan.Tesla Motors showcased the globe’s first electric supercar, the Tesla Roadster, with a price tag of £85,000 plus and only 7 left to be purchased in the United Kingdom, the Roadster proved to be a real crowd pleaser. Nissan catered for the family audience with the Nissan LEAF, the innovative city compact car equipped with state-of-the-art electric vehicle technology.
Throughout DRIVE, BMW and MINI offered free test-drives with scores of spectators taking the BMW 3series and 2012 Mini Sports for a spin around Stratford.

DRIVE also ran numerous activities throughout the centre to entertain the entire family. Codemasters set up a gaming station to allow visitors to try their latest game – DiRT Showdown ahead of its retail launch next month. The gaming station had a constant stream of gamers of all ages eager to road test the all action racing game from the award-winning DiRT series. Not forgetting the younger mall visitor, Lego allowed the little ones to put their creativity to test by building Lego cars and racing them down mini ramps, whist kids of all ages hit the track with the 2012 Scalextric World Championship. One lucky winner won a state of the art Digital Platinum Scalextric Set worth £500.
Thrill seekers were able to enjoy the ultimate racing experience on one of Honda’s F1 and S2000 simulators completely free of charge reveling in the opportunity to get a taste for how it really feels to be a racing driver. Honda owners who visited the stand were given a free Costa Coffee voucher to refuel and Honda also gave away a £300 Westfield gift card every day.
Throughout the six day event Westfield Stratford City ran a number of competitions and promotions with its retailers including the DRIVE QUIZ, ‘Win a Hamper’ and ‘Win a Wardrobe’ competition. One lucky winner beat over 3500 customers to win the hamper full of merchandise from Westfield Stratford City’s food retailers such as The Real Greek, Olive & Oregano and Great Eastern Market plus a year’s subscription to Grazia magazine and gift card to spend in the MINI store.
Another shopper lucked out by winning the contents of an entire wardrobe worth over £1,000 including product and giftcards from Links, Original Penguin, Quiz, Paolita, Roberto Cavalli and two stunning dresses from top designer MARK FAST. To top that off, those who answered all the DRIVE QUIZ questions correctly, were automatically entered into the Prize Draw and one lucky contestant won prizes valued at over £500 including a full valet from H20 valet centre, Reiss and VANS gift cards.
