Round two of the British Supercross Championship proved to be an eventful round for the Maxxis Apico Suzuki Team at the weekend, as injury for Lewis Gregory and a controversial coming together for Stuart Edmonds, made it a tough round for the Rob Hooper run team.

For Gregory, Belfast would prove to be a round to forget after a missed gear in the opening heat race forced the RM-Z rider to crash hard, leaving him unable to take part in any further action.

With Edmonds determined to repeat his successful first round result, an early third place and a subsequent second place in the last chance race looked promising for the Irishman. But it was a controversial coming together with Brad Anderson that would cause a stir in the head-to-head race, when Edmonds lost his rear brake early-on. Despite this, Edmonds still finished the evening with a great fifth place in the SX Lites race, and was looking likely to do the same on the SX final, before a stall relegated the RM-Z rider back to tenth, eventually crossing the line in eighth.

Stuart Edmonds: “An eventful round to say the least, and a slightly disappointing end to the main final. The bike ran well, and despite a few issues, I’m still feeling pretty positive overall. The clash with Brad was unfortunate, but we’ve put it behind us – that’s racing.”

Rob Hooper: “A tough round to say the least, but both boys tried hard. Lewis thought he’d broken his wrist badly, but thankfully it doesn’t look too serious and is just a small break and Stuart is very philosophical about his results and the evening in general. With the Glasgow round cancelled, we’ve got a long wait until the next round and by then we’ll be into a new year, so I’m unsure if this will be Stuart’s last ride for us. If it is, a big thanks to him for his effort and enthusiasm.”
