One of the leading waste management companies in Greater London, Gowing and Pursey, has taken delivery of the first Renault truck to join its 40-strong, predominantly DAF fleet. The new 8x4 Renault Kerax 430, Euro 5 Rigid with Global Cab, has Optidriver+, making it the first truck in the company’s fleet with an automated gearbox. The Renault Kerax, which was supplied by Renault Trucks London, is fitted with Hyva roll on roll off hook loader equipment.

The truck will operate out of the company’s two depots in Acton and Ruislip on behalf of contractors in and around the Central London and Greater London areas.

Company Director, Jack Biel, made the decision to purchase the Renault Kerax after a visit to Renault Trucks’ production plant in France. He says: “What impressed me most about the Renault Kerax is its excellent build quality. Unlike many other manufacturers, there is zero failure tolerance at the engine production stage. Any problems are sorted and dealt with at this first stage.”

The Optidriver+ was also a key driver in the purchase decision. Jack Biel continues: “Our vehicles operate on a constant stop-start basis so the Renault Kerax’s automated gearbox was a crucial choice for us as it is safer, reduces driver error and means less clutch wear. Both I and my business partner, Charlie Ward, have always placed reliability as our top

priority and from what we have seen so far we expect the Renault Kerax to meet this important requirement.”
